Frequently Asked Questions

What is the RRP-104 Standard Wiring Pencil?
The RRP-104 is the original Roadrunner® wiring pencil preloaded with a 0.25 mm tinned copper wire bobbin, featuring a long-life stainless-steel tip for high-speed, precise wiring in confined spaces.

How do I control the wire tension without a brake?
Tension is adjusted by gently manipulating the bobbin supports or varying the angle of the pencil during use, allowing you to fine‑tune wire feed for smooth operation.

What tasks is the RRP-104 recommended for?
Ideal for beginners and advanced users, including students, technicians, and hobbyists, for discrete circuit assembly, PCB track repair, rework, shorting links, and modifications in the field or lab.

How can I replace the TCW wire bobbin?
Unscrew the rear cap, remove the empty TCW bobbin, insert a new RRP-T-104 bobbin (0.25 mm), replace the cap, and adjust the bobbin supports to set the desired tension.

Are there safety considerations when using this pencil?
Yes. The tinned copper wire is uninsulated—if adjacent wires touch, it can short. Keep wires neatly separated and avoid crossing without insulation to prevent shorts.
